Educator tax forms (1099)
Last updated October 13, 2026
Educators on Openly Learning are independent providers, and your earnings are paid out through Stripe, our payment partner. That means your 1099 comes from Stripe, not from Openly Learning, and you download it from your Stripe payouts page.
How to download your 1099
- Sign in to the Openly Learning app and open your educator dashboard.
- Under Getting paid, choose Open my Stripe payouts page.
- In Stripe, open the tax forms section, pick the tax year, and download your form as a PDF.

Signing in to Stripe directly uses the same email or phone number you used when you set up payouts.
When forms are available
1099 forms for a tax year are usually ready by January 31 of the following year. Stripe emails you when your form is ready, so watch for a message from Stripe at the email on your payouts account.
Who receives a 1099
A 1099 is issued only when your earnings for the year meet the IRS reporting thresholds. If you don’t receive one, you are still responsible for reporting all of your income. Your Stripe payouts page lists every deposit, so you can use it for your records.
Keep your tax details current
Your form uses the legal name, address, and taxpayer ID (SSN or EIN) on your Stripe account. If anything has changed, update it on your Stripe payouts page before the end of the year so your form is correct.
